Bamboo is a natural renewable resource which grows at an amazing rate of up to 60cm or more per day. In just 5 to 6 years it can be harvested for flooring products, while in comparison to the average tree being 50 years. The main attraction to Bamboo Flooring is its unique characteristics:- Environmentally friendly, elegance, healthy, termite resistant, special frain colour and toughness.
Strand woven bamboo has a Janka (hardness) of 14.5 - 15.3 this makes it highly resistant to indentations. Due to the high Janka Rating of Bamboo and also being extremely heavy all goes to making it an excellen flooring material. When installed this extra heavy weight allows it to compact rock hard in the moisture barrier underlay used underneath producing a very solid feel under foot and acoustics are more like a solid timber floor.
Two main colours are natural and carbonised (coffee) and also our unique Antique Bamboo. This is achived through streaming the bamboo under a controlled pressure and temperature, this is called carbonisation. If you want a truly natural floor choose, come in and see us!
